Who is this presentation for?

  • Platform engineers, cloud engineers, and infrastructure engineers

Condé Nast is home to some of the largest online publications in the world—including Vogue, GQ, Wired, and Vanity Fair. In an effort to provide a cohesive vision for these brands across more than 30 markets, a truly global platform was required. Utilizing AWS and Kubernetes at its core, the platform officially launched in September 2018 and serves over 200 million unique visitors per month.

Josh Michielsen goes beyond the cluster, focusing on the problems that need to be solved before your platform can be truly considered “production ready.” He dives into how Condé Nast effectively operates multiple Kubernetes clusters across the world, paying special attention to observability, testing, application delivery, and developer experience. And you’ll see the mistakes Condé Nast made along the way, and what it learned from those mistakes.

Prerequisite knowledge

  • A basic understanding of Kubernetes, cloud native application architectures, observability, and CI/CD

What you'll learn

  • Learn how to operate a truly global cloud platform, including platform observability—what to consider, the mistakes Condé Nast made, and what it learned from those mistakes; continuous delivery of applications, and what considerations to make when it comes to developer experience
