Who is this presentation for?

  • DevOps engineers, data engineers, and data scientists

Prerequisite knowledge

  • Familiarity with DevOps, continuous delivery, and streaming and batch processing approaches

What you'll learn

  • Explore ING's DevOps journey and two use cases currently implemented at ING

ING was one of the early adopters of the DevOps movement. Currently, there is a lot of expertise in the organization, and ING’s methods, tools, and HR all cater to DevOps. In the analytics area, these best practices are the basis of a modern and stable architecture where data engineers, operations, and data scientists work together with business people on daily basis. The technology stack includes Hadoop, Spark, Flink, Kafka, Cassandra, and several IBM tools.

Giuseppe D’alessio details ING’s DevOps journey, covering its impact on people, processes and tools, best practices, and pitfalls. Giuseppe concludes by sharing two use cases built on top of these capabilities: Actionable Insights, a Flink streaming application delivering personal and relevant insights to ING’s customers, and ZendING, a Spark batch application which process millions of records on a daily basis. Join in to gain an overview of this interesting enterprise environment.
