REST has long been the status quo for APIs, but recently, GraphQL has exploded in popularity, due to its excellent developer experience and declarative approach to data fetching.
Peggy Rayzis details what GraphQL is and explains how it can simplify the workflow of frontend developers as you learn how to implement GraphQL in your application via the Apollo stack, a collection of open source GraphQL tools for web and native platforms. Through hands-on examples using Apollo tools, you’ll see how integrating GraphQL in your application will enable you to adapt to new data requirements without adding a new endpoint, debug painlessly and gain visibility into your API, and reduce state management boilerplate. You’ll leave with all of the resources you need to start developing your application with GraphQL and Apollo.
Peggy Rayzis is an open source engineer on the Apollo team at Meteor Development Group, where she helps build tools for the GraphQL ecosystem. She’s also the author of react-native-create-bridge, host of Apollo #MissionBriefing, and an accomplished speaker and blogger. When she’s not coding, you can find Peggy hitting the ski slopes or traveling around the world.
