After three years of tooling around with webpack and Babel at Netflix, LinkedIn, and Reddit, Brian Holt has gained some battle-won knowledge. Brian demonstrates how to squeeze more performance out of your code without rewriting it by tweaking webpack and Babel. These tools are immensely powerful, but it’s a delicate dance to get them to play nice.
Join in to learn some nonintuitive tricks that lead to smaller bundles, faster parse times, faster browser-engine opts and de-opts, and faster perceived load times. The session will use Preact, but the lessons apply to any application that uses webpack and Babel. You’ll be surprised at what you can do just by turning a few knobs.
Brian Holt is a senior cloud developer advocate at Microsoft, where he’s all about developers, developers, developers. Previously, he was a JavaScript engineer at Netflix, LinkedIn, and Reddit. When not working, Brian finds time to teach on Frontend Masters, run his mouth on Front End Happy Hour, travel all over the world, and play with his adorable dog. Brian is a resident of San Francisco, CA.

Great talk, Can you please share the slides?
@adardesign
I loved the talk! Will you be sharing the slides you presented? There are some frameworks and comparisons that I loved but was unable to capture. If you’d prefer PM, my twitter is @jonware01
