Service mesh patterns

Who is this presentation for?
- Software engineers and DevOps engineers
Level
Description
As the industry starts to go toward cloud native infrastructure and building applications out of microservices, we must fully face the drawbacks and challenges to doing so. Some of these challenges include how to consistently monitor and collect statistics, tracing, and other telemetry, how to add resiliency in the face of unexpected failure, how to do powerful feature routing (i.e., feature graduation and tap compare), and much more, like securing your services correctly. Service mesh, in general, helps developers solve this in a noninvasive way.
Alex Soto dives into how you can take advantage of these capabilities and some patterns that you can implement easily with a service mesh to make your delivery to production smoothly and without surprises. Most developers haven’t adequately solved for these issues, so Alex takes it to step by step and builds you a strong understanding of Istio and its patterns so you can harness its power in your production services architecture.
Prerequisite knowledge
- A basic understanding of Kubernetes
What you'll learn
- Learn that service mesh solves most of the cross-cutting concerns of microservices architecture and that service mesh lets you release more and more often
- Understand that deploy is not release, and you can take advantage of it
