Description

Note: You must register for this tutorial in advance. The tutorial is limited to 15 attendees.

Have you ever wanted to give an Ignite talk but didn’t know where to start? Are you new to public speaking and having trouble arranging your talk? Or maybe you’re a savvy speaker who needs tips to fine-tune short-form talks or just want to work on your presentation skills. If any of this sounds familiar, this workshop is for you.

Danese Cooper takes you through the process of putting together your first Ignite talk. You’ll pick topics in the class, and everyone will build their talks together. You’ll present several iterations of your talk to individual members of the class as you learn how to break a big idea into smaller discrete pieces, practice your timing, and get comfortable speaking about your topic. One lucky class participant will have the opportunity to deliver their talk at Ignite OSCON on Tuesday night.

This fast-paced workshop alternates between brief periods of instruction and extended periods of guided independent work. Bring a laptop and your favorite slide software (or an account you can use to access Google Slides). And don’t forget a bottle of water—you’re going to need it.

This tutorial is sponsored by PayPal.
