Description

The rise of autonomous driving increases the need for online services based on vehicle-to-cloud interaction. One way to provide such functionality, especially regarding the cloud backend services, is to leverage existing open source technologies.

Steffen Evers offers an overview of the newly established Eclipse Kuksa project—part of the Eclipse IoT working group—which aims to establish an open connected vehicle ecosystem. The project should be seen as an umbrella that combines existing IoT projects and tailors them to the custom needs of a connected vehicle ecosystem. It addresses a multitude of challenges, for example managing a large number of vehicles and network bandwidth limitations. Steffen explores the Eclipse Kuksa project and demonstrates common use cases.
