Today you can use hosted MySQL, MariaDB, Percona Server, and PostgreSQL in several cloud providers as a database as a service (DBaaS), and nearly everyone today uses some form of database in the hosted cloud.
Colin Charles explores how to efficiently deploy a database for optimal performance, with a particular focus on MySQL. You’ll learn the differences, the access methods, and the level of control you have for the various public cloud offerings: Amazon RDS including Aurora, Google Cloud SQL, Rackspace OpenStack DBaaS, Microsoft Azure, and Alibaba Cloud. You can’t control every aspect of a deployment. However, you’ll probably be happier knowing much of it is managed for you.

Colin Charles is the chief evangelist at Percona. Previously, Colin was on the founding team of MariaDB Server, worked at MySQL, and worked actively on the Fedora and OpenOffice.org projects. Colin has been a MySQL user since 2000. He’s well known within open source communities in APAC and has spoken at many conferences.
