Imagine you discover a new gadget, song, movie, or any kind of product. How likely is it that you will stick to a single device from first encounter to final conversion? Chances are, you start your user journey with a quick encounter on a mobile phone, do some more research on the go or on the couch when you are idle on your tablet, and eventually go into more thorough research or place an order on your laptop, where it is most convenient to fill out the transaction details. So how do you make this whole experience as delightful as possible?
Lisa Klein shows you how to realize seamless cross-device scenarios with responsive web apps by analyzing a typical product conversion scenario and illustrating how to enrich the user experience on each device to create a delightful user journey. Using web apps and responsive design patterns, you can enrich the experience on each device without adding too much complexity to the overall scenario, and with small tweaks and interaction steps tailored to the end user, you can maximize the experience at each step of the user’s transaction. Lisa also shares options for keeping the context with a given device’s capabilities if the user is likely to transfer to another device.
