Satellite Art

Paul Rademacher (Tasty Labs)

As a geo enthusiast, you have probably often come across visually captivating images while browsing the map in satellite mode. Maybe it’s a tight cluster of buildings all lined up perfectly, or some fractal wind pattern across a desert, or some beautiful abstract shapes and colors that could be framed as modern art.

In this presentation we’ll look at the accidental artistry of satellite images, and look at the best images on , a Google Maps API site where people can take snapshots of satellite imagery, share them with others, and vote on the best.

The images are mesmerizing and beautiful, and will give you a new appreciation for the Satellite mode you see everyday on your map.
