John McKerrell
Founder, MapMe.At

Website | @mcknut

After completing a Computer science degree at Leeds University in the UK and then spending 5 years developing content delivery systems for high traffic web sites John introduced himself to the geoweb world by building the JavaScript API for Multimap.com. This product soon became the flagship product for Multimap and enabled them to retain and grow the client base they had built up in their previous 10 years against growing competition from the free mapping APIS offered by their competitors. After Multimap were bought by Microsoft John continued to work on the API to integrate new imagery and mapping data from the Virtual Earth product and extended the API to support innovative functionality such as Bird’s Eye imagery.

Over the past year John has struck out on his own combining freelance work for high-profile clients such as Microsoft, Carphone Warehouse and moneyextra.com with time spent developing his own start-up ideas including the location-based social network MapMe.at
