This year at Web 2.0 Expo, we’re hosting a Startup Showcase. Highlighting the startup ecosystem’s creativity and variety, the Showcase will give you a chance to get in front of hundreds of potential users and a couple of high-profile investors.

We’ll have approximately 30 startups demoing in one large room. Web 2.0 Expo attendees and a panel of judges from the investor community will have 50 minutes to visit the demos and listen to the pitches—we’ll sound a chime every five minutes, letting people know it’s time to circulate. As they walk around, attendees will vote on their favorite demos. At the end of the hour, the judges will announce their top picks along with the audience favorite. These winning startups will then each give a pitch and have an on-stage conversation with the judges.

To see what Startup Showcase will be like, check out the video from the first Startup Showcase we did at Web 2.0 Expo New York in September 2010.

Never got a ballot and having the demo’s on cocktail tables meant there was a lot of bumping into people. Sort of difficult to have meaningful conversations with the founders.
