Checkins are the new coupons. Bit.ly links are the new affiliate links. Social startups are slamming up against (and reinventing, repurposing, or disrupting) old business models.

While companies are sharing content on Twitter or Facebook, they still rely on more traditional means – search & display ads. Startups should not stop at inventing new paradigms for the web, there is an opportunity to reinvent the business models of the old web.
