Germany’s well-diversified economy has allowed it to weather the economic crisis of the past year much better than many of its European neighbors. The ICT industry in particular has proven to be an important catalyst for the resurgent German economy – continuously recording positive growth rates in recent times. As a result and due to the strong focus on research and development, Germany is leading the way in shaping Europe’s digital future.

This session takes a closer look at Germany’s ICT industry and explores its various segments to showcase the latest technologies being developed there. It introduces Germany’s R&D infrastructure and how R&D funding is stimulating new developments, such as those at the Emmy Award-winning Heinrich Hertz Institute. The session also presents opportunities for companies from other countries to benefit from collaboration and partnerships with German companies and research organizations. Finally, it demonstrates why Germany is a very attractive location for ICT investment and introduces Germany Trade & Invest, Germany’s official foreign trade and inward investment promotion agency, which offers a wide array of services to investors all over the world.
