Who’s important and how do I know? Who has the scoop and how will I find out? In any of your network of connections, some people are more interesting to you than others. Influence is about applying that understanding at large scale to the content people share and knowing who’s interesting.

Using many examples from the online and offline world, this talk will present the importance of influence and how it can be used to for better filtering, discovery and recommendations. You’ll learn how to find influencers and how these lessons can improve your own applications, whether you’re designing a Facebook application, a better intranet or a smarter Twitter client.
