Winner of the LaunchPad competition at Web 2.0 Expo in San Francisco, PhoneGap is an open source initiative for bringing native device capabilities to mobile browsers. With PhoneGap, you can author apps in HTML and JavaScript and still take advantage of native mobile device capabilities like geo location, camera, vibration, local storage and sound.

Ron Ellis was not actually at the presentation, Brian LeRoux took his place. Both Brian & Brock were obviously very knowledgable in the mobile dev space. They were very funny – loved the mario themed slides – hope they get posted soon. The PhoneGap project looks to really help make it much easier to develop cross platform for most mobile phones – have to look into the code to see how much that had to hack to get things working on Blackberry…
