In this talk, I will share 10 lessons learned from the design of SlideShare, why Web 2.0 companies don’t do formal user research (or do they?), how the Beta launch can be considered a first probe of the market, how to help user kick ass, the importance of technical simplicity, and the crucial role of “design engineers”.

The focus of the talk will be on building products fast and getting them out to gauge market reaction. I will walk-through a feature launch, building a first version, launching it, and using metrics and customer feedback to do quick, successive iterations.
