Serverless applications promise to solve the operational challenges of running applications at scale by eliminating systems management, leaving these challenges to cloud operators. However, applications still need to be managed, debugged, and monitored. In a way, current serverless programming can be seen as building applications without an operating system but also without the advantages of an OS and its ecosystem of tools. Eric Windisch explores the challenges of managing these serverless applications and pokes at the answers too.
Erica Windisch founder and CTO of IOpipe, where she brings her decades of experience in building developer and operational tooling to serverless applications. Erica also has more than 16 years of experience designing and building cloud infrastructure management solutions. She was an early and longtime contributor to OpenStack and a maintainer of the Docker project.
