The waterfall chart is a staple of the Web Performance Optimization toolbox, and helps developers see the requests generated by a web browser, and when they are generated. However waterfall charts do not explain why requests are generated when they are. We present a new tool that will help developers answer the question of “why,” and we will use it to delve into details regarding the process of resource loading and JavaScript execution in web browsers.
