Performance and operability doesn’t come from simply focusing on a single part of your application or infrastructure. They come from having a systemic view of what makes your stack work, what could bottleneck it, and what could bring it down. I’ll talk about this journey from kernel to continents.

I did notice some of the technical reasons were skipped over in this, shortened, version of the full speech. Some of the skipped slides (I can speed read pretty well) listed the background behind some of the “WTF’s”

Take away: “Fxxk”, “WTF” and “ShXt”. In addition an empirical proof why “Linux Kernel” and “Mongo DB” suck….uhm, what where the reasons ?

Btw: why are no rating stars applied here ?

Some of the technical content (the earlier parts of the talk) was useful and insightful. Unfortunately, the talk was spoiled, for me, by the juvenile language and the superficial criticisms of projects such as Linux, MongoDB etc. Artur probably had some interesting bases for his criticisms but instead, he just referred to them as ‘shit’ and ‘wtf’ etc. and gave no justification for his views. The talk came over as an egotistical rant and the good content really got lost.
