Schedule: Sponsored sessions

Sponsored sessions led by Velocity sponsors and exhibitors for the O’Reilly Velocity Conference happening June 24-26, 2014 in Santa Clara, CA.

Track Hosts

Stephen Ludin JUNE 25: Stephen Ludin is a Chief Architect for Akamai's Web Experience group. He currently heads the company's Foundry team - a small group dedicated to innovating on the edge of technology. He joined Akamai in 2002 and works out of Akamai's San Francisco office. His primary focus has been on projects related to the core proxy technology that is responsible for routing, accelerating, and securing Akamai's traffic.

Betty Tso JUNE 25: Betty Tso currently manages the AmazonUI engineering team in Amazon, building the front-end platform that is modernizing Amazon.com's FE codebase. It's an opportunity to enforce front-end best practices, make Amazon's retail sites lightning fast, encapsulate the minutia of cross device/browser compatibility, and enable site-wide user experience experimentation. Betty is also an evangelist in Web Performance Optimization domain. She spoke at Velocity Conferences, internal conferences and universities such as CMU, Duke, Georgia Tech.

Sascha Bates JUNE 26: Sascha Bates, before becoming an automation junkie, built plenty of systems by hand. She learned exactly how well the claim, "We're only building it once," holds up. (Hint: you will always need more environments!) Now she is Automator of All Things. She is a DevOps enthusiast who helps developers make beautiful things. Sascha has brought her blend of scripting and sanity to companies for more than ten years, across all levels of abstraction: bare metal, virtual machines, clusters, deployment pipelines, and performance optimization.

Jeremy Edberg JUNE 26: Jeremy Edberg is currently the Operations Engineering Tech Lead for Netflix, the largest video streaming service in the world, serving over 5 billion hours of video quarterly. Before that he ran reddit, an online community for sharing and discussing interesting things on the internet that does more than five billion pageviews a month. Both run their entire operations on Amazon's EC2. Jeremy's expertise is in distributed computing, EC2, rapid scaling and social media.
