Description

This session explores the mathematical algorithms and scientific studies describing the advantage of diverse teams.

We’ll dive into existing research and real-world situations that solved complex problems.

We’ll also explore a mathematician’s theory that “diversity trumps ability.”

We’ll also explore how Star Trek played a pivotal role in being the allegory for this concept.

Fredric Mitchell is the V.P. of engineering at Better Weekdays. He has a wide variety of experience developing websites in the government, NGO, and education sectors. He fell in love with PHP, and specifically Drupal, in 2006. It was a weird time, as anyone who has had to deal with PHP4 can attest, but he continued to pursue more knowledge within the framework by starting and cultivating the budding Drupal community at the University of Chicago. Fredric has presented at numerous events throughout the United States and Costa Rica and is a regular contributor to open source communities. He has a B.S. in electrical engineering from Washington University in St. Louis.
