Ron Charles is the deputy editor of The Washington Post Book World and a weekly fiction critic. He recently launched The Totally Hip Video Book Review series on The Post website. In 2008, he won the National Book Critics Circle Award for best criticism. Before coming to The Post in 2005, he was the Books editor at The Christian Science Monitor. He and his wife, an English teacher, live in Bethesda with their two daughters.
