Alice is an expert in Machine Learning algorithms (among other things). She’ll help you:

  • Scale up data science on Big Data
  • Gain better intuition about how machine learning algorithms work
  • Learn some practical data science tips

Alice is the Director of Data Science at GraphLab, a Seattle-based startup that offers powerful large-scale machine learning and graph analytics tools. She loves playing with data and enabling others to play with data. She is a tool builder and an expert in Machine Learning algorithms. Her research spans software diagnosis, computer network security, and social network analysis. Prior to joining GraphLab, she was a researcher at Microsoft Research, Redmond. She holds Ph.D. and B.A. degrees in Computer Science, and a B.A. in Mathematics, all from U.C. Berkeley.

Hi Chuck,

Happy to help though it’s not a short answer. 1 should be tailored to the current needs of your company, and 2 is a pretty broad question. Come by my office hours on Friday and we can talk about both questions. I’ll be there from 10:30-11am-ish at table F.

Hi Alice,
I am from Barclays Investment Bank and would like to talk about how 1. I can get to 1 or 2 use cases that have impact for managements buy in and 2. do I go about building a Data Science team ?
