Hadoop can be anything from a complementary asset to a fundamental upheaval of data management. It’s potential applications are extensive and it can seem that the sky is the limit. While most large financial organizations are no longer questioning Big Data, many are still holding back or struggling with an effective strategy to introduce and leverage the platform.

It’s one thing to believe that Hadoop is a solution to your Enterprise’s data woes and another to successfully bring it in. Misconceptions, fears, and outright opposition can plague all the angles. Amidst just such an environment, a diverse team at Transamerica successfully brought in Hadoop.

If you want to bring in Hadoop, there’s lots to think about. In this session we will:
• Illustrate a real world example of using Big Data to provide a 360 degree view of customers and to enable better cross channel marketing
• Demonstrate how we leveraged Hadoop to aggregate data from multiple internal and external sources and provide analytical insights to our Marketing organization
• Cover the mess-ups, side-tracks, successes and milestone events that got us to a running cluster, a successful POC, and enterprise adoption.
