Information is power. Data, when culled, linked, and leveraged in real time, can empower and, in the financial services world, can even protect businesses and the customers they serve. This is especially true in the digital space. This session highlights how properly using Big Data can create frictionless processes that support business goals, objectives, and opportunities like customer segmentation and personalization and help protect against business threats like fraud and manage customer privacy.

David Thompson will share how Western Union, a leader in global payment services with a combined network of approximately 515,000 agent locations in 200 countries and territories, is using various customer data repositories—across social networking, all of its money transfer channels, surveys, call center interactions, etc.—and placing information into the hands of its business leaders to empower them to make even better decisions and to inspire them to create new products and services.

In this session attendees will learn:
• How to tangibly and responsibly use Big Data to solve business problems and innovate
• Ways to support a variety of objectives like building the business and protecting customer privacy
• Why having a disciplined system and controls in place is critical to success
• How to integrate Big Data into existing platforms to make them stronger, more nimble, and enabled to facilitate real-time decision making
• How to collect, process, and distribute data in real-time and integrate it into the day to day operations and business functions
