Attendee Reception

Join us at the Strata Attendee Reception, hosted in the Sponsor Pavilion immediately following the first day of sessions. Have a drink or two, network with other data enthusiasts, and visit the sponsors and exhibitors who are innovating in big data technologies. This event is open to all attendees.

Startup Showcase

We’re also hosting Startup Showcase during the Attendee Reception. Highlighting the startup ecosystem’s creativity and variety, the Showcase gives up-and-coming companies a chance to get in front of hundreds of potential users and investors.

At the end of the showcase, our judges will choose three companies from among the ten finalists, selecting those whose technology, team, and offering stand apart from the rest. The winning companies will be announced during the keynotes on Tuesday, 12 November.

Good Night Lamp

I’m an interaction designer, product designer & entrepreneur based in London. I have been focusing on consumer-facing internet of things products & services since 2005. I am the founder of the Good Night Lamp, a family of internet-connected lamps.

I run designswarm, an internet of things design practice & consultancy and work with clients who want to design next generation connected products & help advise early stage smart products businesses. I am a co-founder of Internet of People, an agency for internet-of-things consultants.

I was co-founder and CEO of Tinker London, a smart product design studio. Focused on creating connected product experiences that linked the digital to the physical, Tinker was the first distributor of the Arduino platform in the UK, ran workshops around the world and offered design and consultancy services to clients like BBC, BT, EDF and others.

I help Xively run the London Internet of Things meetup, I am a mentor at Bethnal Green Ventures, and I used to co-curate This Happened London.

My work has been exhibited at the Museum of Modern Art, the Victoria & Albert Museum, multiple tradeshows like the London Design Festival & Milan Furniture Fair.

I’m curious about things. How they work. Why they are the way they are. What can change. I’m passionate about my family, my friends, my church and community. They matter to me. A lot. I try and temper my curiosity and my passion with patience. And apply myself to learning about information (which is how I make my living) food (I love cooking and eating) music (particularly the music of the late Sixties and early Seventies) books (I read voraciously and collect extensively). And education. I’m passionate about education. One day I will set up a school.
