Yodit Stanton, founder of Atomic Data Labs, shares the challenges of building early stage prototypes that enable the monitoring of patients within their own homes using sensors.

With the NHS overstretched and an ageing population within Britain and Europe it is time to explore how technology can help us manage the way we conduct social care. Combining Cloud and Big Data technology as well as innovations with sensors we now have the tools to develop revolutionary monitoring and alarming systems. This application of the technologies come with a unique set of challenges and constraints that need to be carefully thought about. We ask if sensors along with Data Science would be able to enable the personalisation of health care monitoring like we have content and the goods we purchase.

In this session, Yodit shares the technical challenges and experiences of building health monitoring prototypes using Storm and Hadoop and explores the possibilities of how sensor data can truly transform people’s lives.
