Where does the journey to deriving business value from big data begin? Does it start with a top-down big data strategy, or from the bottom-up by downloading Hadoop? Is it ok to start with a science project, or do you need to know the destination before you invest? Is it about cost reduction, or rather unlocking new analytical capabilities? What’s more important: using the right technology, collecting the right data, focusing on the right use case, or hiring the right people? When you look at the bottom line, is anyone doing it ‘right’, and does anyone know what success really looks like? Join us as we discuss the real-world applications of big data, examine what’s working and what isn’t, and discuss why you don’t need to boil the big data ocean with Hadoop.
