Investment in big data solutions grows daily. But data solutions don’t benefit the organization if the message doesn’t penetrate the corporate suite and directly influence decision making. There are some surprising skill sets that are needed on your analytic team if analytics is going to take a front row seat at transforming an organization into a true learning organization that optimizes business based on knowledge discovery from its data. Without the link to transforming the organization with data, big data is just a big secret. Creating a trust and hunger within the organization for knowledge discovery is key. This presentation will recount some hard learned lessons from a knowledge discovery team within a health care environment. Discussion will include insight into the size, organization, and oversight of analytic teams, the background and skill sets of analytic staff, the approach to work, and the communication and branding of the output needed to drive corporate decision making.
