What you'll learn

  • Explore SparklineData, an in-memory distributed scale-out analytics platform built on Apache Spark to enable enterprises to query on data lakes directly with instant response times

Description

Large enterprises are moving transactional and event data from scattered data marts to a centralized data lake. Business data is increasingly being consolidated in a data lake to eliminate silos and handle the high volume of data production. However, consuming this vast and varied data for business intelligence, ad hoc analysis, and data exploration using tools like Tableau has been a challenge because of the performance and limitations of big data platforms.

SparklineData is an in-memory distributed scale-out analytics platform built on Apache Spark to enable enterprises to query on data lakes directly with instant response times. SparklineData uses a combination of query optimization techniques, OLAP indexing, caching, and more to power fast, concurrent queries on very large datasets without moving data into another database or creating extracts. Moreover, SparklineData operates on the most granular level of facts, eliminating the need to preaggregate data to achieve performance. SparklineData works with BI tools and leverages concepts such as hierarchies and dimension modeling for true BI and OLAP use cases at scale.

Srikanth Desikan offers an overview of SparklineData and explains how it can enable new analytics use cases working on the most granular data directly on data lakes.

This session is sponsored by Oracle + DataScience.com.
