Traffic saps the life out of a city and its inhabitants. Municipal traffic engineers all over the world are using data and analytics to combat increasing congestion but are limited by the physical and anecdotal nature of traffic studies.
Chad Jennings details how Geotab, a leader in IoT fleet logistics and location telematics, has developed groundbreaking smart city applications with BigQuery GIS (geographic information systems) and BigQuery ML. The application allows smart city planners to better understand traffic and predict locations of likely unsafe driving—all through Google’s cloud-scale data warehouse, BigQuery.
