Prerequisite knowledge

  • Basic proficiency with a common query language such as SQL (useful but not required)
  • Experience developing applications using a common programming language, such as Python (useful but not required)
  • A working knowledge of data modeling and extract, transform, and load activities (useful but not required)
  • Basic familiarity with machine learning and/or statistics (useful but not required)

Materials or downloads needed in advance

  • A laptop

What you'll learn

  • Learn how to identify use cases for machine learning, explore a dataset, create ML datasets, and create a benchmark
  • Get started with TensorFlow, including use of tf.estimator, dealing with input data, performing feature engineering, and building and training models

Melinda King offers an introduction to designing and building machine learning models on Google Cloud Platform. Through a combination of presentations, demos, and hands-on labs, you’ll learn ML and TensorFlow concepts and develop skills in developing, evaluating, and productionizing ML models.

This is the first segment of a two-part tutorial.
