Who is this presentation for?

  • Application developers and system architects

Prerequisite knowledge

  • Familiarity with relational database modeling and application-based data design techniques

What you'll learn

  • Learn how to use your RDBMS knowledge with property graph database models

Description

Like many of you, Patrick McFadin has a good deal of experience building data models and applications using a relational database. However, now graph databases are becoming mainstream. Patrick explains how to use the knowledge you have gained from your years of working with relational databases in this brave new world. There are many similarities but also some significant differences that can open up completely new use cases. If you’re deciding whether to take the plunge into graph databases, this is the talk for you.

Topics include:

  • How graph databases create relations differently than an RDBMS deployment
  • How to insert and query data
  • When to use a graph database (and when not to)
  • Things that are unique to a graph database
