Michael Zargham
Director, Data Science, Cadent

I am the head of the Data Science group at Cadent responsible for a dedicated team of data scientists and engineers in addition to managing the collaboration of the data science team with the development teams in Philadelphia and San Jose, and the Business Intelligence (operational and executive reporting) team.

I hold a PhD in optimization theory from the University of Pennsylvania where I worked on cooperative resource allocation problems including data strategies for efficient routing and containment strategies for epidemics.

I currently serve on the Spark Technology Center Advisory Council where I work with other data science practitioners to guide IBM’s contributions to Apache Spark. I am particularly focused on the completeness of the mathematical functionality in the ML APIs.

For fun work with start ups on leverage emerging technologies with a focus on blockchain applications and machine learning at scale and enjoy teaching; most recently I taught a graduate level convex optimization.
