Wearable devices and their data are growing at an incredible pace. Data products, and their ability to turn data streams into context-aware recommendations and experiences, are crucial in a world of increasingly sophisticated sensors and public data sources. Using case studies from the Jawbone UP activity tracker, we’ll discuss why data products are key to shaping the future of wearables as well as their implications to business and public health.

Jawbone

Emi is a Senior Data Scientist at Jawbone. She completed her Ph.D. in Neuroscience at Northwestern University studying memory systems of the brain using functional neuroimaging. She went on to study neuroplasticity in patients with brain trauma at UC Berkeley, using graph theory and clustering techniques to quantify network changes in the damaged brain. An interest in scientific computing, statistics and behavior change led to her current position at Jawbone where she works with data from Jawbone’s UP band. She has authored several blog posts (www.jawbone.com/blog) and is part of the team responsible for building consumer facing data products.
