Location: M6/M7
Secondary topics:  Best Practice, Case Study

Who is this presentation for?

  • DevOps practitioners, heads and directors of engineering, CTOs, and chief architects

The heavily regulated healthcare environment dictates that data stays in country whether the country has a public cloud presence or not. Jean-Marie Ferdegue presents Babylon Health’s experience of deploying a customizable microservices architecture in 24 countries in a year. He touches on infrastructure architecture, data regulation (data lineage and security), and more.

Jean-Marie explores maintaining a consistent platform in a world of iterative improvements and country requirements, dealing with specific country regulations, embracing immature technologies at scale (service mesh for healthcare data), maintaining an infrastructure that leverages AWS best offerings while being deployable in countries where public clouds are unavailable, and building the case for repayment of technical debt.

Prerequisite knowledge

  • Familiarity with infrastructure as code and the public cloud

What you'll learn

  • Learn that infrastructure engineering is often not a differentiator for companies and is often a good candidate for community-driven work
