Shantina Jackson, Bay Area Managing Director, Code Nation
Shantina is a STEM education professional with 15+ years of experience. She’s highly skilled in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) program management, recruiting and supervising program staff, cultivating high-quality programming and continuous program improvement, scaling new education programs, nurturing a rigorous academic climate, engaging university, community, and corporate partners, negotiating contracts, and minimizing liability and costs. Shantina is an education PhD whose research interests focus on the intersections between race, gender, and African American educational thought.
Nikki McDonald, welcome and introduction: Nikki is a program chair for Velocity and a content director at O’Reilly, where she writes, edits, and works with the industry’s leading practitioners to develop books, online courses, and training videos to help engineers and developers collaborate more effectively and create and deploy complex distributed systems. Nikki started out as a features editor at MacUser magazine back when people were still dialing up to the internet with AOL. She lives in Ann Arbor, MI.
