JRuby enables a better Rails experience through a number of double plus good features. By supporting Native Threads, JRuby can spawn multiple runtimes and also trivially spawn background jobs. By having access to large numbers of Java libraries, you can easily access virtually any technology known to mankind. By virtue of being written in Java, it is simple to deploy JRuby applications like Rails in a Java application server. All of these features in addition to being a highly-compatible and highly-performant Ruby implementation makes JRuby a great choice for Rails development.

This session will give an overview of JRuby and explain how JRuby’s unique featureset helps a Ruby and Rails developer get work done.
