Video is becoming an ever more popular element in a modern web application. This was originally spear headed by YouTube and now more and more customers are asking for a video as a feature.
Most talks on integrating video into a busy website are often given by consultancies who have developed a solution for a client but after delivery are no longer involved in the day to day running of the solution.
This is definitely a from the trenches talk that provides detailed knowledge of:

  • The best ways of uploading large video files
  • Various solutions to video encoding in a scalable way, including optimizations.
  • Options for content storage and delivery. And the various myths floating around
  • A poor mans CDN alternative
  • And finally the Ruby and command line utilities required to do this

After this session, developers should be able to walk away with the in depth knowledge required to integrate video into both a small or massively large site.
