OSCON 5K Glow Run/Walk and After Party

Location: Corner of NE Grand Ave. and NE Davis St.
Average rating: ****.
(4.52, 23 ratings)

Don’t forget to pack your running shoes and your glow-in-the-dark gear, because the OSCON 5K fun run is back. And this year we’re adding a fun twist – we’re running in the dark. Whether you are an avid runner or just starting out, you are invited to join other OSCON attendees Monday evening for a run/jog/walk through some of the most scenic and emblematic sites of Portland. Glow sticks and neon t-shirts will be provided, but we encourage you to add as much glow gear as you want (prizes will be awarded for the best light display). The run will start near the Oregon Convention Center and is open to all attendees and their guests who are at least 18 years of age.

The After Party

After the Glow Run, join us for a night of music, food and drinks as a kick off to OSCON and to celebrate your 5k accomplishments. To give you a true feel of Portland, we will have a Mexican style food cart and a beer garden featuring local brews and wines for you to enjoy before heading out to the dance floor and showing your “electric” dance moves. Make sure you outfit yourself in your craziest light gear for the “Best Costume” and “Best Light Display” contests.

does anyone happen to have pictures of the event (aside from video?). I’m promoting a technology/Foss awareness run in Charleston, and I’d love to see what OSS mascot-enthusiasm looked like, hitting the pavement ;)

The race was great fun. We preregistered, however, by the time we arrived at the start, there were no shirts left in the sizes we wear. Any chance of getting the souvenir race shirt?

I didn’t get a shirt (they ran out) but was told one would be sent to me after the race. How can I put my name on that list?

Awesome event, even though the 5k was 3.7 instead of 3.1. Thanks for hosting. Beer & tacos were delicious.

Will the results be posted online? I managed to finish between print outs or something, so my time was never posted on the wall during the party.

after some more staring at maps, it looks like the best way is to take max to the convention center and then walk west a little bit ;)

Does the course go clockwise or anticlockwise? It would help supporters to know which direction to look in!

@Robert – You don’t have to finish, but we’ll need your timing chip back if you decide to detour back to your hotel :-)

Question: are we required to actually finish?
