Digital Media educator Dana Moser will take you through a number of popular options for open source software-based interactions with the Arduino microcontroller and the Raspberry Pi. In this fast-paced overview, videos and code examples will be shown that demonstrate inter-operability between open source hardware and the free software projects Processing and Puredata (Pd) in creating multimedia experiences.

Demonstrations include:

  • Custom hardware control of homemade DJ software synthesizer
  • Telerobotics examples with the Raspberry Pi including video and motor control
  • Building a web interface to turn on a vibrator over the network
  • Examples of how artists are programming and programmers are making art
