In this session Cooper Stevenson will present DRBD, the Linux kernel approved high availability storage replication solution including:

  • Shared nothing HA clusters (synchronous replication)
  • Long distance storage replication (asynchronous replication)
    • “follow the sun” services
    • disaster recovery sites

In the session DRBD’s basic principle of operation will be explained. The attendee will get an overview of the challenges a storage replication solution has to solve and a high level overview how these challenges are solved in DRBD.

We will also discuss the major features and benefits of the 8.4 release of 2011 and the 9.0 release coming this summer.
