Symbian’s mission is bold – to foster collaboration, contribution and ongoing participation among the mobile industry to develop the best experience possible for developers and consumers. We are completely open source, meaning any individual or organization can take, use and modify the Symbian platform code for any purpose. This creates a unique ecosystem where there is something for everyone. Come be a part of it.

During this tutorial, we’ll explore global opportunities that exist in the market today. We’ll introduce you to a variety of programs we have in place to help leverage what’s out there and be successful.

We’ll also get in to specifics around cross platform application development and show you some ways to make it easier and less time consuming. Web apps are also a hot trend so we’ll demonstrate how to best create, develop and deploy an app using our Symbian Web Tools. Once we are warmed up we will explore Qt, a cross platform application and UI framework. Using Qt you can deploy apps across desktop, mobile and embedded operating systems without rewriting the source code.

You will leave this tutorial feeling energized and educated about what it means to be a part of a truly open ecosystem for what continues to be a continuously growing mobile market.
