So you want your code to run faster. You found the part that’s taking the time, but now you don’t know what to do with it. This talk is for you. We’re going to discuss some of the low-hanging fruit of optimization — a few small things that will make most perl programs run significantly faster.

We’ll cover common bottlenecks, efficient usage of popular CPAN modules, and a few personal tricks picked up from years of trying to squeeze a little more speed out of perl applications.

Excellent presentation. It was evident that a lot of research, experience and thought went into this presentation. I was particularly impressed with the specific tips in each of the 10 categories; they go beyond the profiler results to “what can I actually do to improve performance”. Thank you Perrin Harkins.
