One of the most difficult aspects of Open Source development is creating portable code and graphical installers for the dozens of platforms in use. Only a few projects – FireFox, Open Office, Inkscape, MySQL, etc. – have the resources to accomplish this today.
LINA makes it extremely easy for any Open Source developer to do this. The LINA Runtime – a cross-platform virtual OS – can run complex Linux applications on Windows, Mac, and UNIX as if they are native applications. These Linux binaries can be wrapped in a single universal installer that can install on any platform and that can generate virtual appliances for Xen, VMware, VirtualBox, Qemu, Parallels, and Amazon’s EC2.
In this session, we will help attendees linafy their Open Source projects command line, server, or Web applications. Attendees are encouraged to create a Debian package of their application before the session and to bring a 128×128 PNG image of their logo. At the end of the session, attendees will have a simple, maintainable method for generating installers and virtual appliances for their projects for each release.

Vice President of Product Quality, majored in physics at George Mason University in Virginia and has worked in hardware and software engineering for over thirty years. He discovered his affinity for Quality at Tandem, Compaq, and HP, where he worked with some of the most fervent, educated, and entertaining practitioners of Software Engineering in Silicon Valley. His goals are to function as a lubricant or an adhesive as needed and to become one of the best listeners on the planet.
