Btrfs (pronounced “butter-eff-ess”) is a new copy-on-write checksummed
file system for Linux. Some key btrfs features are writable
snapshots, pooling of multiple devices, efficient small file support,
and optimization for SSDs. This talk will present btrfs from the
point of view of the system administrator and casual user.

Btrfs is part of the mainline Linux kernel (therefore, 100% GPLed) and
is currently in beta testing. Chris Mason is the architect and lead
developer of btrfs. For more information, see the btrfs wiki.

An article on btrfs will appear soon on:

Val’s presentation was reasonably information dense and practical. There were a few instances of questions asked for which she didn’t have answers on hand that were handled a bit dismissively – it would have been nicer to perhaps refer those questioners to the known expert, a wiki page, etc.

Sounds like a great GP filesystem. Will it be in production for Fedora 12 release?
