Homer Hummel

Homer Hummel
Sr. Test Engineer, MORI Associates Inc.

Homer Hummel received his B.A. in Mathematics from UCLA in 1967. He served in the US Army for 3 years in the area of logistics. Since then he has had a 36-year career in computer software testing. He began his career working for the US Air Force Satellite Control Facility in the areas of telemetry processing, orbit determination and satellite attitude control, with contractors System Development Corporation, Unisys and Applied Technology Associates. For 11years Hummel has performed software testing and quality assurance of enterprise information systems at JPL with contractors OAO Corporation and Computer Sciences Corporation. He has specialized in test automation tools, both commercial and custom built. Hummel has been a Perl enthusiast for 10 years and a Unix enthusiast for his entire career.

Perl is utilitarian. A flexible, scalable, cost-effective framework for load testing application servers has been developed using Perl scripts. This framework is ideal for load testing servers for which a commercial test tool is either unavailable or prohibitively expensive. Load scripts may be easily written using a Perl script template and functions of one of the many clients on CPAN. Read more.
