Building user interface with JavaScript means controlling visual display with CSS as well as DOM manipulation and JavaScript logic, but it’s easy to hurt application performance by using JavaScript where CSS will do.

This session will cover:

  • Basics of the major browser rendering and layout engines (Gecko, Trident, and WebKit)
  • Fundamentals of CSS and how it affects the layout and rendering cycle
  • Fastpath optimizations for different levels of CSS support
  • Declarative animations and transforms for WebKit, and methods for
    emulating in other browsers
