As we prepare for OSCON in Austin, TX, May 8-11, we want to make it clear that O'Reilly Media opposes TX SB 6.
While the bill, if passed, won't take effect until after OSCON 2017, its requirements are counter to our company values and violate our Code of Conduct, which states our commitment to making every O'Reilly event "a place that is welcoming and respectful to all participants, regardless of race, gender, gender identity and expression, age, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, national origin, ethnicity, political affiliation, or religion."
In addition, along with Apple, IBM, Salesforce, Intel, and many other companies, we've joined the Keep Texas Open for Business coalition, to state publicly that we believe "Discriminatory legislation is bad for business,” and urge the Texas House of Representatives to veto the bill.
